Anything that holds soil and has drainage can hold plants. If you need help finding the perfect container, we can help! We are partial to concrete, fiberstone or resin, as they are long lasting. We have the best sources for containers, planters and urns. Need self-watering options? We have sources for self-watering containers or reservoirs for your specific container to help ease the daily watering.
Annual plants perform much better when fed on a regular basis. We feed a starter fertilizer at planting and suggest a weekly water soluble fertilizer application. We use Espoma Organic BioTone Starter Fertilizer at planting and recommend Proven Winners®️ Water Soluble Premium Plant Food, as we use this weekly in our own gardens. We sell the Proven Winners®️ Water Soluble Fertilizer in 2.5lb packages for $18.50. We HIGHLY suggest you look for high nitrogen (N-P-K) content and Chelated Iron in any fertilizer you choose. We will only use organics at your home, for your safety, unless otherwise requested.
Any potting soil will work for any container. Native or garden soil is never suggested to grow container plantings. We recommend Kellogg Garden Organics Raised Bed or Potting Mix and Sta-Green Potting Mix. It is preferable to find a soil with NO fertilizer.
What makes us different than others is our knowledge of plants! Any gardener can fill a pot with soil and plants but we make them thrive and grow! We want our customers to have success! Proven Winners annuals are our favorite choice for containers, they have never failed us! We also love a centerpiece statement. Dara, our plant expert, can help with your needs and goals for your containers. She will tell you what will work and what won’t and she will set you up for a successful growing season.
Water is crucial to keeping plants alive. The best time to hand water your containers is early in the morning or at dusk. Consistent water will be a key in successful growing. The best way to water is with a drip irrigation system on a timer so the plant knows it will get water everyday, at the same time, right at the root zone. It is less likely to suffer in the Oklahoma heat if the plant expects water at a determined time. Drip irrigation seems intimidating but can be easily installed with kits found at any big box store. Dara has spent years perfecting her personal irrigation system. She is a self taught irrigation expert, personally converting two pop-up spray zones to drip zones on her sprinkler system. She can guide you to products, systems and kits and can consult in the installation process. Full install is available, contact us to discuss your needs and get an estimate.
